EPL GAME WEEK 4 PREDICTION
Saturday 1st September
Leicester city vs Liverpool
Leicester city clawed back from a goal down to claim victory against Southampton and striker Jamie Vardy misses out as he serves the last of his three match suspension. Liverpool got off to a great start with their third victory of the season, that’s the first time since Brendan Rodgers’ tenure in 2013 where they went on to finish runners up behind Manchester City. The Reds have won eight of their last 12 league matches against the Foxes but I don’t think they’ll find it easy this time.
Brighton vs Fulham
Fulham finally got their first win of the season against Burnley with Aleksandar Mitrović been the highest goalscorer in the top 4 English league this year and I expect him to be pivotal in Fulham’s charge to the top half of the season. Brighton produced a resilient performance against Liverpool but were consigned to a narrow defeat. If Brighton could come up with the same tactical and disciplined performance they produced at home to Manchester United and away at Liverpool, I don’t see them losing this match despite Fulham’s fine form.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth
The comeback kings were at it again against Everton to earn a point from two goals down. Bournemouth are in such rich vein of form in the start of the season. Chelsea eventually got the win at the dearth against Newcastle United at St James Park. Chelsea will be looking to make it 4 straight victories and I don’t think Bournemouth will be able to stop them.
3-1 to Chelsea
Crystal Palace vs Southampton 3pm
Southampton were unable to hold out for a draw against Leicester City while Crystal Palace lost away to Watford and will be looking to go back to winning ways. Mark Hughes’ side have won just twice in his tenure since last season and I don’t expect them to earn any point here.
2-0 to Crystal Palace
Everton vs Huddersfield 3pm
Huddersfield face a difficult task to stay in the Premier League due to their inability to create chances and score goals. Everton were unlucky to lose their two goal advantage against Bournemouth and they’ve also lost new signing Richarlison due to suspension. Everton to win comfortably.
West Ham vs Wolves 3pm
West ham were left to rue their missed chances against Arsenal and they’ve lost their first three games of the season. Wolves earned a well deserved point at home to Manchester City. West Ham will be looking to get their first win of the season here but Wolves won’t be an easy game.
Manchester city vs Newcastle 5:30pm
Newcastle produced a dogged and disciplined performance against Chelsea and will feel unlucky not to earn a point in that game. Manchester City dropped 2 points out of 60 in the opening games last season and they’ve lost 2 points against the spirited Wolves last weekend. Manchester City have gone 21 top flight games without defeat against Newcastle whilst Newcastle have lost their last 9 away league matches in this fixture. There’s a trend here. I reckon Aguero will get some goals here, he just loves scoring against Newcastle United.
4-0 to Manchester City
Sunday 2nd September
Cardiff vs Arsenal 1:30pm
Cardiff are yet to score in the Premier League this season, in fact they’re the only team in the top 4 leagues that have not scored a goal yet. They had chances to score against 10 men Huddersfield but still could not find the back of the net. It was a cracking game between Arsenal and West Ham at The Emirates which Arsenal manager Unai Emery got his first win as Arsenal boss. He also played down the rumours of a training ground bust up with Mesut Ozil. Emery likes his full-backs to play with freedom at the final third and his team to press from the front. Arsenal to get their second win here.
0-2 Arsenal win
Burnley vs Manchester United 4pm
Burnley are on a bad run of form and they’ve been dumped out of the Europa League by Olympiacos on Thursday whilst Manchester United got to a new low with their thumping defeat at home to Spurs on Monday. Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho called for Respect from the media/press after the match. Both teams will be raring to get back to winning ways but I feel Burnley will hold out for a draw here.
Watford vs Tottenham 4pm
Both teams are enjoying a very good start to the season and will be looking to continue their great form. Tottenham played brilliantly against Manchester United and certainly took their chances well. Watford results have been tricky this season so I think a draw will be a fair to both sides.
